Making things right by recognizing that everyone and everything is related
The Prairie Food System Vision Network identifies, encourages, and supports a range of solutions that contribute to health, sustainability, justice, reconciliation, and food sovereignty in the Prairie biome. Through many small steps we will make steady progress toward achieving a regenerative food and agriculture system by 2050.
Food Systems Microgrants Program
The Prairie Food System Vision Network piloted a Food Systems Microgrants Program to provide funding to support the social-ecological transformation of food systems across the Prairies. This investment encourages innovation, self-determination, community development, and capacity building by and for communities, with the goal of achieving food sovereignty.
Food Systems Solutions Hubs
Our solutions hubs create spaces at the community, provincial, Treaty or regional level to focus and sustain creative attention on identifying challenges and solutions.
LIFT Network
The PFSVN is part of this global network whose vision is to empower local communities and Indigenous food systems to preserve cultural heritage, promote sustainable practices, and ensure a nourishing future for generations to come.
Regen10 Listening Circle
Regen10 is a global multi stakeholder initiative with the mission to accelerate the transition to regenerative food systems. Their approach to the transition is farmer/land steward centric, deeply inclusive and evidence-based. The PFSVN participated in a Learning Circle facilitated by Regen10 to inform the development of their “Regenerative Food Systems Outcomes Framework”.
Mapping
Community Mapping is an excellent way to begin to understand what is happening in our communities. This Prairie Food System Vision Network map provides information and inspiration about innovative initiatives that support food sovereignty across the Prairies through localization as well as community and economic development.
